Leads the activities of the Academy of Sciences and ensures that the goals and functions of the Academy of Sciences are implemented.

Main activities

* lead the development and implementation of the organization's policies, programs, and rules;
* preside over general meetings of the organization's members and meetings of the Presidium;
* report on their activities to the Academy's members and in the Seimas (the parliament of Lithuania);
* ensure the development and implementation of appropriate systems and procedures to control the budget;
* oversee the activities of the units responsible for implementing the organization's policies, programs, rules, and regulations;
* represent the organization in foreign and international scientific and other organizations and resolving key issues related to international scientific cooperation;
* represent the organization at official events, public project discussions, conferences, and forums.
