211110 - Hydroacoustic specialist

Studies sound and applies it in water. Uses sonar technology, most commonly employed for observing underwater physical and biological properties. Studies the propagation of acoustic waves in water for underwater location and underwater communication purposes.

Main activities

* measure and determine the depths and bottom morphology of water basins, inventory the bottom surface, identify and account for submerged objects;
* investigate the seismic acoustic seabed, identify objects buried under sediments, and determine the deep bottom structure up to 20-30 meters below the water basin's bottom surface, take water basin bottom samples, perform water stratification monitoring;
* study soil strength properties, structural earth depths, perform geodetic and relief measurements;
* install hydroacoustic technology in fishing, transport and passenger shipping, yachts, and motorboats;
* control technical ship radio and navigation equipment, inspect ship radio and navigation equipment on behalf of various classification companies.

Characteristic competences

* measure water basin depth;
