Performs scientific research, develops, prepares, or improves concepts, theories, and methods, applies scientific knowledge of geology and geophysics in areas such as oil, gas, and mineral resources exploration and extraction, water resource conservation, civil engineering, telecommunications, and shipping, as well as waste disposal project development and environmental impact assessment and reduction.

* perform geological and geophysical research, prepare and publishe scientific articles and reports;
* publishe popular works on geology and geophysics, develop geological and geophysical concepts, theories, and models, prepare and publish monographs;
* organize interdisciplinary consultations and participates in them, improve geological and geophysical theories, models, and methods;
* train Ph.D. candidates and coordinate scientific and applied research projects, solve large scientific or practical problems requiring scientific knowledge;
* promote geology and geophysics science activities and disseminate the latest knowledge.
